Handwriting:
We will be using “Verbal Pathways” to practice handwriting.  Sometimes it helps children to say aloud the directions for “making” a letter. This “verbal path” helps them to understand the directional movement that is essential. (Click here for the pathways)

Writing Workshop:
We will be starting the year off with telling oral stories to the class.  This is a foundational unit that lays the groundwork for writing workshop. This unit is based on the belief that writing begins with oral telling of stories. It begins with building on what children already know how to do: talk.
We will also be working on learning to draw detailed pictures.
