Grading

How is work graded?

In class, students take a bi-weekly Word Study test. This test is given a letter/percentage grade. While Word Study grades are not on report cards, I feel that students need to see the grades that they earn on their tests to validate the hard work that they (and their parents!) do to learn the spelling patterns. Any Word Study homework that is sent home will also be given a letter/percentage grade.

In Math, students generally receive nightly homework. With the new programs being used, homework will only be graded for completeness. Grades will be taken in the classroom on work completed in class.

Also in Math, students will take quizzes and tests. Both of these items will earn letter/percentage grades, which will be included on report cards.

Occasionally, students will get homework in Social Studies and/or Science. These assignments will also earn letter/percentage grades.
